Mollie’s Tough Mudder Challenge
Meet Mollie, one of our biggest supporters. Mollie always goes the extra mile for Aphasia Support, and this year she’s chosen to brave the Tough Mudder challenge!
Inspired by the support her dad receives, Mollie said:
“I remember when my dad, Dean, first left hospital after his stroke. He was diagnosed with aphasia and could barely say a sentence. Life had completely changed. But with the help of Aphasia Support he was given all the tools he needed to get life back to somewhat normal. From regular speech and language therapy to social events. He was supported through every single step. The support has been first class.
There’s been too many instances to mention of how great Aphasia Support have been – the charity loaned him an iPad with specialist apps, taught him how to use technology and do therapy independently, and welcomed him to the Barnsley Aphasia Cafe. Every fortnight he spends time with a speech and language therapist, catches up with friends and feels supported by people who truly understand. The list really could go on.
I am so grateful to the charity for everything they have provided, and for the community that we share. Especially the aphasia cafe. This has been a real help to my dad and the progress he has made.
I’d like to take on the Tough Mudder challenge because I have seen first hand the amazing work that the charity has done for my dad. My work colleagues are being so supportive – after meeting my dad and learning of his experiences, they are very keen to do the run with me. The countdown is on! “
If you’re able to, please sponsor Mollie’s fantastic fundraising efforts. Your generosity ensures we can continue to be there for people like Dean, and families like Mollie’s.
